Project Overview
P & P Cleaning Services Ltd were proud to support a major highway safety improvement project delivered by Bankswood Infrastructure Group in collaboration with KAYS Highways for Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council.
This large-scale scheme covered a 1.3-mile route in Bolton, focusing on improving visibility, driver guidance, and overall road safety, particularly in high-risk and low-visibility areas.
Our Role – Sign Cleaning Across the Full Route
As part of the coordinated upgrade, P & P Cleaning Services Ltd were responsible for the professional cleaning of all road signage across the full route.
Clear, visible signage plays a critical role in road safety. Our work ensured that all signs:
- Are free from dirt, grime, and environmental build-up
- Delivered maximum reflectivity, especially in poor weather and low-light conditions
- Supported the wider safety improvements introduced across the scheme
This was carried out efficiently alongside other contractors to ensure minimal disruption and a seamless delivery.
The Wider Project
The scheme brought together multiple elements to create a safer and more intuitive driving environment, including:
- Replacement of outdated road studs
- Installation of high-performance reflective studs for improved visibility
- Over 5,000 metres of new thermoplastic road markings
- High-friction surfacing at key risk locations
- Upgraded signage, including new chevron boards
- Full-route sign cleaning by P & P Cleaning Services Ltd
This coordinated approach ensured every element worked together to enhance driver awareness and safety.
The Outcome
The completed project has significantly improved the safety and usability of the route, delivering:
- Enhanced visibility in wet and night-time conditions
- Clearer navigation through bends and junctions
- Improved driver confidence and lane discipline
- Strengthened safety at a previously high-risk junction
By combining multiple improvements, the scheme creates a safer and more resilient road network for the local community.
